I love creativity. For my part, I don’t have a creative bone in my body, nor am I an entrepreneur. Which may be why I appreciate both qualities so much. As a result, I was pretty excited when I stumbled across the website Kickstarter.
Purporting to be “a new way to fund and follow creativity,” Kickstarter aims to provide people with a means to find new creativity and to be able to be a small part of something awesome. Help these young designers, entrepreneurs, artists, etc. broadcast their voice, produce their product, build their dream. How great is that?
Funding creativity AND entrepreneurship. I love it. Here are a few examples of current projects underway:
- The Magnetic SnapStylus for the iPad (I admit it; I bought one of these)
- A documentary, “The Light in Her Eyes,” about a female, conservative Muslim preacher who founded a school for girls in Syria
- A dance troupe in Cape Town, South Africa, that narrates through dance stories about war in “Landing on My Feet in Bits, in Pieces: Memories of War Zones“
- + Pool, a floating pool for the rivers of New York City
